Follower explores what follows us even when it barely
reveals itself a shifting inner force that takes shape,
influences decisions, and subtly alters our trajectories.
Through a duo inspired by silent theatre and puppetry
manipulation, the piece gives physical form to this presence... sometimes light, sometimes heavy, never fully defined.
Rather than telling a story, Follower makes perceptible the invisible dialogue between desire and
restraint, transforming hesitation, deviation, and resistance into a sensory choreographic experience.

Duration of the performance: 30mins
Choreographer: Karima EL Aidaoui
Performers: Ilias Chorbi, Mohamed Lamine Fettah
Set Scenography: Karima EL Aidaoui
Sound creator: Omar Chakor

Mektoub is a choreographic solo blending dance and music, in which the body becomes language and memory. The piece explores a fragile moment where choice collides with fate, and where marriage within traditional society, reflects intimate tensions and social injunctions. The word “Mektoub” in Arabic, means “it is written” or “destiny”
evoking a life path that sometimes lies beyond individual control.
Through gesture, breath, and silence, the piece reveals feminine emotions in the face of age, family pressure, and cultural expectations. It questions individual freedom and invites the audience to physically experience these tensions through the body.

Duration of the performance: 48min
Choreographer/Performer: Karima EL Aidaoui
Set Scenography: Karima EL Aidaoui
External Observer: Marie Bruel, Florence Loison
Sound creator: Omar Chakor

About

Karima El Aidaoui is a Moroccan dancer and choreographer based in Tangier.
Her artistic approach is deeply rooted in choreographic research, where the body becomes a living material in constant transformation.
She is interested in how the body evolves through different stages, shaped by experience, memory, and the surrounding environment.
Her work often starts from gestures drawn from everyday life and traditional practices.
These movements, seemingly simple, carry cultural, social, and emotional weight. Karima observes, deconstructs, and transforms them into a contemporary choreographic language that is open, physical, and metaphorical, free from illustrative storytelling.
Tension, breath, repetition, and complex body states are central elements in her writing, allowing lived experiences and heritage to pass through movement without being represented literally.
Karima began dancing as a self-taught artist before joining a contemporary dance training program in Tangier. As a performer, she has collaborated with companies and choreographers in Morocco and internationally, including JILZ, Hnaya, Olivier Dubois, and Rhythme Naturel, among others. Her first solo creation, Mektoub, was developed between Morocco, Belgium, and France through several artistic residencies and has since been presented both nationally and internationally. She is currently developing new creations planned for 2026-2027: Follower and 0meter.
